Rise of the Digital Nomad

Imagine a workday from a celebrated spot? A workday at the top of a mountain? Overlooking the crashing waves?

Welcome to a day in the life of a digital nomad.

A digital nomad, by definition, is an independent worker who lives a location-independent, technology-enabled lifestyle. They have abandoned the time-honored system of a 9-5 workday, to embrace the creative freedom of working from any place that calls to them. Their lifestyle fosters creativity and freedom that is often found lost in the corporate world.

The good news is that what was once a luxury limited to a fortunate few has now become mainstream. Anyone can be a digital nomad, even the ones holding a corporate job.

What made it possible? You may be surprised to know that it was the pandemic.

The pandemic saw a boom in remote work, creating a working-from-home economy almost overnight. Even companies such as Microsoft and Google, which once deemed remote working impossible, have changed their minds.

In the U.S. alone, about 42% of the labor force is now working from home. For a digital nomad, home could mean the soothing calm of a national park, or the cascading sensations of Niagara Falls. In the era of working from home, your location is becoming increasingly irrelevant.

You can live the life of your wildest dreams, exploring your bucket list one place at a time.

Freedom and independence not only set our suitcases and taxicabs rolling from one place of our choice to the next, but also spin the wheels in our heads. They tap into creative reserves we barely knew we possessed.

Don’t squander your best energy in busywork. As a digital nomad, take work to where you want to be.
