Authors and Their Cats

Cats, in their own independent and introverted ways, make great author companions. From Charles Dickens to Edgar Allan Poe, authors have shared a special bond with cats.

So it’s little wonder to find author social media feeds pounced by beloved cats. As ailurophiles ourselves, we couldn’t help but dedicate a special post to our feline friends!

1. Güs PonPon

When a cat has its own Instagram account, we had to find out where all that love was coming from!

Akwaeke Emezi is an lgbo and Tamil writer who’s known for her debut novel “Freshwater.” It’s not surprising that a storyteller as gifted as she would turn to a creative spirit to channel her artistry.

I mean, just look at Gus PonPon’s feeds!

2. Biscotti

Biscotti, when not busy starring in tweets from Nebula Awardnominated Yudhanjaya Wijeratne (Numbercaste“), likes to curl up and chill.

Apparently, “it’s unclear whose favorite food she was named after.”

3. Poppy

Shari Lapena wrote bone-chilling best-seller “The Couple Next Door,” but she seems to be a woman of few words.

Even on the posts where Poppy appears, Shari keeps it short. We think she’s just busy writing her next thriller – with Poppy by her side (awww)!

4. Maisie

Beatriz Williams is a USA Today and New York Times bestselling author of historical fiction. When we discovered her rescue cat Maisie, we weren’t surprised to learn that she inspired the character Sandy in “Her Last Flight.”

5. Puffin

Hazel Gaynor, the bestselling author of “The Girl Who Came Home,” hinted that Puffin could be writing her next novel!

And we can’t wait!
